For 80 years, our mission has included serving our community with excellence. We have an incredibly dedicated and committed employee base that collectively places a priority on making our region a better, place to live, work and play.
Capital BlueCross received a 2018 Catalyst Award for creating positive change in the Harrisburg region. The Corporate Citizen of the Year Award is given to an organization that demonstrates strong values in corporate social responsibility in our region. Other criteria include a commitment to advancement of society, social involvement, and community outreach.
Each year, Capital BlueCross invests heavily in its 21-county service region, both through volunteer hours, and with financial commitments to hundreds of charitable organizations. Its commitment to social responsibility and the community is reflected in its mission—“to improve the health and well-being of our members and the communities in which they live.”
“We are both humbled and extremely proud to be recognized as the Corporate Citizen of the Year. It means so much to be recognized by other deserving business and community leaders as a strong community partner, that is more than just another health insurance company,” said Gary D. St. Hilaire, President and CEO, Capital BlueCross. “For 80 years, our mission has included serving our community with excellence. We have an incredibly dedicated and committed employee base that collectively places a priority on making our region a better, place to live, work and play.”
Employees are also extremely involved in volunteering and fundraising for good causes, both internally and externally. This includes giving countless hours to the nonprofit community by serving, leading, and chairing campaigns for organizations.
The honor comes as Capital BlueCross celebrates its 80th year as a community based health insurer. The company was also recently named one of 2018’s Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.
The Chamber & CREDC will host the Catalyst Awards ceremony on Thursday, December 6 at the Hilton Harrisburg and Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts. Visit the Harrisburg Regional Chamber to learn more.
