Health and Wellness Center Offers Healthcare Consultations and Resources

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Continuing their mutual commitment to building healthier communities, Capital BlueCross and WellSpan Health today marked the opening of a new Capital BlueCross Connect health and wellness center at the WellSpan campus in Chambersburg.

The center, at 12 St. Paul Drive, is open by appointment for one-on-one consultations related to health plans or Medicare options, discussions with a health coach, or scheduling of biometric screenings.

“As the name signifies, Capital BlueCross Connect is about making connections to better health, as well as better connecting us to the communities throughout Franklin County,” said Capital BlueCross President and CEO Todd Shamash. “This center is a tangible, productive result of our ongoing collaboration with WellSpan, and it will serve as a hub for healthcare consultations, health coaching, fitness classes, and much more.”

WellSpan Health President and CEO Roxanna Gapstur said the collaboration of the two entities will improve the region’s access to high-quality healthcare and affordable coverage, particularly for Medicare and individual coverage plans.

“Working together, Capital BlueCross and WellSpan will be able to make a difference in the region that neither organization could make alone,” Gapstur said. “WellSpan is committed to finding new, innovative ways of addressing healthcare cost, access, and affordability. A partner like Capital BlueCross helps make these new innovations a reality.”

Capital BlueCross has been a leader in establishing consumer-friendly, walk-in health and wellness centers in its 21-county service region. In addition to the newly opened Chambersburg site, there are Capital BlueCross Connect centers in Enola, Cumberland County, and Center Valley, Lehigh County.

The Chambersburg center is the latest in a series of Capital BlueCross and WellSpan Health initiatives. In July, the pair announced it would collaborate to offer WellSpan patients and Capital BlueCross members access to Babyscripts™, a mobile app that allows doctors to remotely monitor the vital signs of expectant mothers. Last year, WellSpan and Capital BlueCross agreed to share technological strengths to improve coordination of care and patient outcomes.
