YORK – Expanding their joint commitment to accessible, consumer-focused healthcare, Capital Blue Cross and WellSpan Health today officially opened a new Capital Blue Cross Connect health and wellness center at WellSpan’s Apple Hill Medical Center in York.
The state-of-the-art, 1,300-square-foot center at 25 Monument Road will serve as a hub for a variety of wellness services, including healthcare consultations, health coaching, biometric screenings, and more. The center also offers one-on-one consultations on health plans or Medicare options and invites anyone – regardless of whether they are Capital Blue Cross members or use WellSpan physicians and services – to come to the center for one-on-one consultations as Medicare and individual open enrollment seasons approach this fall.
“Our Capital Blue Cross Connect health and wellness centers help connect people to better health through the trusted services of a company they know will go the extra mile for them,” said Capital Blue Cross President and CEO Todd Shamash. “This center also better connects us to York County and its communities and builds upon our member-focused collaboration with WellSpan.”
“Ensuring that our patients have convenient access to services and programs that can improve their health beyond regular physician visits is a priority for WellSpan,” said Roxanna Gapstur, President and CEO, WellSpan Health. “Our collaboration with Capital Blue Cross makes available an additional layer of personalized care for our patients, members and area residents.”
This is the second Capital Blue Cross Connect health and wellness center located at a WellSpan facility. In September 2020, Capital opened a Connect center on WellSpan’s campus in Chambersburg, Franklin County.
Capital and WellSpan have collaborated on several other health initiatives since announcing a strategic partnership in 2019.
Capital was a major sponsor of the WellSpan York Cancer Center expansion in 2021 and helped fund WellSpan’s mobile mammography motor coach, which brought breast cancer screenings to rural and underserved communities in the region. Capital and WellSpan also introduced new Medicare Advantage options to the market last year that offer Medicare beneficiaries greater access and options at more affordable costs.
Capital Blue Cross has been a leader in establishing consumer-friendly, walk-in health and wellness centers. The York facility is the fifth Capital Blue Cross Connect now open in Capital’s 21-county service region.
