HARRISBURG – Capital Blue Cross and Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware & Susquehanna Valley today teamed up to celebrate a Mechanicsburg girl’s wish to go to Walt Disney World during a festive, Disney-themed event at Capital’s headquarters in Susquehanna Township.
Capital Blue Cross President and CEO Todd Shamash presented the wish to 8-year-old Shelby, who battles a blood disorder.
“To help make a little girl’s dream come true, to see her joy today, is as rewarding as it gets,” Shamash said. “Shelby’s courage as she navigates her health challenges is so inspiring, and we’re so proud we could go the extra mile to help celebrate her Disney wish and make her dream a reality. We care so deeply about our communities because we are part of them, and it was a privilege to be such a big part of Shelby’s community today.”
Shelby walked a red carpet toward her wish as her family, Capital staff, and Make-A-Wish representatives cheered her on. Capital Blue Cross staff embraced the moment by donning Disney outfits, and Capital gave Shelby a carry-on for her flight to Florida and several Disney-related items.
